Table of Constellations
Below is a complete list of the 88 constellations that make up the night sky.
The list has been arranged to show northern and southern constellations in seperate tables. The deciding factor as to whether a constellation is northern or southern merely depends on its position in the sky, either above or below the ecliptic (the path the Sun follows in the sky throughout the year).
In addition to the northern and southern constellations there are the ancient zodiacal constellations which lie directly on the line of the ecliptic. Included with the zodiacal constellations is Ophiuchus which, although it is not of the zodiac, is on the ecliptic.
The northern and southern tables are presented in alphabetical order, zodiac constellations are shown in the order in which they appear in the sky.
